fREE CLINIC
A Place Where Healing Begins
St. Vincent’s House Free Clinic has become the place in the community where someone, who lacks medical benefits and has no other means, can go and receive quality medical care from people who care.

In partnership with the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), St. Vincent’s House offers free primary care to those men, women and children who might otherwise go without medical care or treatment; the indigent, transient (homeless), under and/or uninsured members of our community.

Our primary care clinic is administered by a full-time patient coordinator and staffed through the generosity of volunteer health professionals and students from UTMB Medical and Allied Health Schools, under the supervision of practicing doctors from the faculty. The UTMB affiliation affords the patients much needed access and referrals to University’s labs and resources that traditionally would have been unavailable. The clinic operates several days a week.

A major focus of the clinic is the prevention, early detection and control of chronic illnesses such as Diabetes, Hypertension, High Cholesterol, Heart disease, with special emphasis on Cancer, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. St. Vincent’s House Free Clinic provides:

  • Routine physical/sports exams
  • Pediatric services & Immunization
  • Women’s Wellness check-ups
  • Mammograms & bone
    density analysis
  • HIV testing
  • Vision screenings
  • Diabetes health maintenance and counseling
  • Prescription assistance
Medical Caduceus

Under the auspices of WelCare Initiative, the clinic takes preventative healthcare and outreach to the front door of the underserved and uninsured with Street Screenings, a mobile wellness program conducting free medical screening for blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol at various site around the community.

St. Vincent’s House envisions a holistic approach to wellness. Lay Chaplains (sponsored through the Community of Hope) are available for spiritual/healing support to clinic patients, staffers and/ or anyone who may want or need someone to talk to, pray with or just listen.
